Double standards in media representation of minorities

Media double standards in dealing with women and ethnic minorities have been a persistant problem throughout US media history, though the forms of discrimination may have evolved to a more subtle level over the years. Social standards reflected in both fiction and non-fiction media could put down one gender in relation the other, favor the majority over minorities, show bias for one ethnic minority over another, or even in some cases favor minority interests over majority interests. The following observations shared by our readers gives a sampling of the diverse range of experiences with double stardards in both news and entertainment.
